Description by the author

Lompret has been a member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de Wallonie since 1997. Idyllically situated in a bend of the Eau Blanche stream and with the beautiful wooded limestone formation hovering over the church, it has certainly earned this distinction. The starting point is the Café l’Eau Blanche (Rue Gustave Joaris 27) in Lompret. You immediately cross the stream via the narrow bridge opposite the café. A little further on, you turn right and hike, gently ascending, past the school, a small hotel, and the church of Lompret. In Rue Fernand Tilquin, which you follow for about 50 meters, you take the wide forest path on the left side opposite the first house. This gently sloping path quickly leads you to the beautiful little stream.

Where the forest path bends to the right, you continue to follow the stream. A little further on, you reach a spot with a bench and a sign labeled La Roche aux Corbeaux. A bit further, the forest path begins to rise gently, and you leave the valley of the Eau Blanche. After a right-angle bend to the right, it becomes very steep. Once the steep ascent is completed, the path meanders through the forest. In spring, you will be treated to a true carpet of flowers here. Wild daffodils, snowdrops, and wood hyacinths create a colorful overall picture. The forest path ends at a fork with a hexagonal sign that reads Haie d’Escri From here, go right.

Follow this paved path until you reach a road that you cross towards Vaulx. Stay on this asphalted path. Initially between meadows, later through the forest, until you can take a forest path to the right about 25 meters before a bridge. Pass a traffic sign “No Cycling” and continue following the path next to the stream. At a right-angle bend to the right, you leave the valley and gain altitude quickly over a short but very steep ascent.

Follow the red-yellow markers of the GR. At the end of the ascent, turn left. Initially, the path stays level, then gently descends. At the fork, at the level of some traffic signs, turn right. You are still following the red-yellow GR signs. At some houses built from the local limestone, the path ends. Turn left here, over two bridges, to a chapel with a bench. To the right, into the village of Lompret. Now it is only 250 meters back to the starting point.
