Description by the author

Go to the church of Saint-Pierre, the church of the village of Furfooz, a village of Dinant. You can set the GPS to Rue du Camp Romain 20 in Furfooz. Go with your back to the church on the right and go 80 meters further next to house number 24 on the right in the narrow path. The country road turns to the right and soon offers a beautiful view of the village. The path then widens and begins to climb. Once at the top, turn right at the fork and continue 80 meters to the next fork (with the Gratte-Cul sign) turn right again (arrow with blue rectangle). The view of the Lesse valley is impressive. Walk left at the T-junction with the old linden tree and the rest bench (red and white signs GR roads). After 200 meters, ignore the forest path on the right. The forest road begins to descend after 400 meters and takes you to the Ri des Forges, a river that flows half a kilometer further into the Lesse. Cross the water and turn right into the berm along the main lane. (The path between the river and the N910 is no longer usable).

After 400 meters, pass under the railway bridge, cross the Lesse and immediately turn left and go 50 meters further left and under the bridge. Kayaks are rented on both banks and there is also a café here where you can go to cool off from late March to mid-October. Now walk more than 2 kilometers on the narrow paved track downstream along the Lesse. After almost two and a half kilometers you return under the railway and you arrive at the hamlet of Chaleux.

Ignore the left turn. In front of you on the other bank, you see the imposing rocks Les Aiguilles de Chaleux and on the left, you have the Chapelle Saint-Nicolas. Walk to the water (there is a rest bench) then continue on the narrow path along the Lesse on the left and under the railway bridge. Climb left along the stairs to the bridge and via the pedestrian bridge over the Lesse, then via the stairs at the bottom and right of the bridge. This path is sometimes a little more difficult to cross due to mud and deep puddles, but 10 to 15 meters to the right runs parallel to a second, drier path. After a kilometer, you will approach the water and the next railway bridge. Walk under the bridge and run 80 meters further to the right. Ignore the left exit and walk straight ahead and climb steep slopes.

After about a kilometer you walk over the Aiguilles de Chaleux and another 100 meters you have a rest bench and a breathtaking view of Chaleux, the Lesse and the rock formation. When you leave the forest, ignore the exit on the left and walk straight. The impressive farmhouse on the ridge on the left in front of you is the Ferme de Sûre. The wide-field road becomes paved. At the T-junction, walk right towards the church. On the left you have the imposing Saint-Hubert farm.

ADDITIONAL WALKING TOUR IN FURFOOZ PARK For lovers, there is another 3.5 km circuit in Furfooz Park, an important archaeological site. The site was inhabited from the New Stone Age to the Middle Ages. You can still see many Roman and medieval remains, including reconstructed baths and a Roman fortress. Along the circuit, you will discover caves and caverns with iconic names such as Trou des Nutons and Trou qui fume. The park is also a recognized nature reserve with, among other things, a flora typical of limestone meadows. The entrance to Furfooz Park is located about a kilometre south of the village (there is clear signage and parking). The park is open from March to October and the entrance fee is 4 euros for adults (discount for groups, seniors and children). Along the circuit, on the Lesse, is a small cafeteria.
