Hiking between Kasterlee and Geel

Meet in Kasterlee at In den Kleyne Doorenboom, on the corner of Doornboom and Houtum. With the historic fence on your right, follow Houtum, direction junction 70. At the first fork, walk straight ahead and leave the Kasterlee watermill, which now houses the restaurant of the same name. Just before the Kleine Nete you walk along the Kastelse Kayak Klub and you come to junction 70. Continue straight until the next fork and you're right at junction 71. Turn left into Hinnekensbergen, direction junction 69. Then take the first field road on the left and turn right at the fork. You now follow the Kleine Nete to a pedestrian bridge. Cross it and you're at junction 69. Turn right and continue along the Kleine Nete until junction 68. Continue to follow the river, towards junction 63. You cross the next bridge and follow Netevallei to the right. Ignore Hinnekensbergen on the right and continue to the T-junction. Turn right and immediately left again into a field road. Follow it to the edge of the forest and turn left again.

You walk along the edge of the forest for a while, step through a grove and cross a forest road. In rainy weather it can be particularly mud here. After the forest you walk between two hedgerows that separate fields and meadows. You step into a grove again and arrive at junction 63. Turn right, direction junction 71. Ignore a forest road on the left and walk out of the forest. It now continues through an impressive open landscape. Leave a field road on the right and step further over the bridge over the Breiloop and follow the stream to the left. Ignore a road on the right, make a left-right nod a little further and continue walking along the edge of the forest. At the next fork, turn right into the lane, actually a field road between two hedgerows.

Then cross two intersections of field roads and turn right on the next one. You step over asphalt and past a farm. Immediately afterwards, the road becomes unpaved. At the next quadruple jump, turn left. Ignore all side roads, go into the forest and continue to the intersection with the Oudemolse dike, also called the Zandweg. A comfortable cycle path has now been built to make the cycle junctions more attractive. Before junction 71 you have to turn right, but you get straight on the Oudekastelseweg. Ignore Nelis on the right. This asphalt road turns into a field road that takes you to the Breeven nature reserve. Unfortunately, this nature reserve is private and you are not allowed in it. So you walk further to the Aardseweg. Turn right and immediately after that turn right again, into Broekstraat. Follow this quiet street past the cemetery of Ten Aard (Geel) and a few football fields to the fork at the bridge over the Daelemansloop.

Follow the Breevensedijk to the right. Step past a farm and past the lane that leads to Nelis and where you are not allowed to enter. Continue on the Breevensedijk and where it becomes private, make a right-left nod and continue walking with the Breeven on your right. Now it is no more than a large meadow, formerly a real fen. You come to another field road and follow it to the right. When the Oudemolsedijk ends at the Breevensedijk, you walk again towards junction 71. You achieve that at the next fork. From here you know the way and you get via junction 70 to the starting point.
