Asse is located between the Brabant Kouters and the Pajottenland. It is a region with gentle agricultural landscapes, winding streams, and small source forests. One of the most beautiful spots in the area is the Kruisborreweg or ‘Weg oem’, a pilgrimage path that began at the Holy Cross Chapel from 1622, at the foot of which lies a consecrated spring. At the central marketplace, you will find, alongside many terraces, some beautiful buildings from the eighteenth century as well as the monument of Hopduvel. Since the hop gardens have largely disappeared, this still plays a significant role in the folkloric life of Asse. Every two years, the Hopduvel festivals still take place here. The walk starts at the Gothic Sint-Martinuskerk and leads completely outside of Asse along quiet paths.
