In the heart of the Antwerp Campine, this walk takes you through rural Beerse. Get to know the Dessel-Schoten Canal and a few beautiful pieces of nature reserve.

Beerse may already be known for its pharmaceutical industry, but the municipality is far from being fully built. Say no further and enjoy the many greenery and heath landscapes, from the water in lakes and fens, to the Dessel-Schoten Canal. On the Eksterheide you will mainly find coniferous forest and birch, grassland and old peat remnants. Since the Agency for Nature and Forests took over the management, they have been trying to increase the value of the nature reserve with more hardwood and land dunes. They need to attract even more fauna. The old clay pits are already popular with waterfowl. A lot smaller is the Devil's Pit. Yet that is also a valuable piece of nature with beautiful fens and gale swamp. Konik horses also graze in that typical part of Kempen landscape. Nevertheless, we start just outside Beerse, at the Sint-Jozefkerk on the Kerkdreef in Rijkevorsel.
