Run for Joachimsdal is a marathon event for the Warmest Week, StuBru, Music For Life. Goal: Support for the Snoezelkar project of the MPC St-Franciscus.

A warm marathon from Aalst to Domein Puyenbroeck on Saturday, December 23, 2017

The route and schedule:

We start at 10 am in the city park (F. Blanckaertdreef) and run in a group along a runner-friendly route along the Dender towards Dendermonde and then over the Donkmeer towards Puyenbroeck (Wachtebeke). Total distance 42 km & 195 m.

We have 2 entry points for runners who would like to run a shorter distance. The first entry point for half marathon runners is approximately halfway, around the Donkmeer in Berlare. A second entry point is in Lokeren 10 km before the finish. The exact location of these 2 points will be announced later.

We will run together at a relaxed pace of about 10 km/h and finish around 3 pm. In the Provincial Domain Puyenbroeck, we have reserved changing rooms and showers in the Puyenbroeck Sports Center. After recovering from our athletic performance, we can take a look at the event area of Studio Brussel for Music for Life, which is within walking distance of our destination. A bus from Reisen Muylaert will take our runners back to their respective starting points (Lokeren/Berlare/Aalst). The bus departs in Wachtebeke at around 6 pm.

Some practical information:

Drinks and food can be deposited in the organization's cars at the starting number. At each station, everyone can collect their own supplies again, and we will provide additional snacks. The Vespa Club De Amici from Erembodegem will provide support at dangerous points along the route (with warning lights, fluorescent vests, road closures) so that we can safely reach our destination. We will also provide support from some cyclists along the entire route and cars at the stops.

Contributions: a warm donation can be transferred to the account: BE40 1448 9018 6763 indicating first name and last name. Please do this at the latest by Thursday, December 21, 2017. When registering, we ask to cover the logistical costs of at least €10, but we count on a larger donation from the generous donors among us.

The good cause:

RUN FOR JOACHIMSDAL is a warm running initiative in favor of the MPC (Medisch Pedagogisch Centrum) Sint-Franciscus in Roosdaal (https://www.facebook.com/mpc.sintfranciscus/). We support the dream project SNOEZELKAR. The 16 young people in the living group JOACHIMSDAL need specific care in a protected environment. A mobile Snoezelkar fits perfectly into this picture. This vehicle provides additional, individualized stimuli through sounds, light, and smells. The Snoezelkar can be used anywhere. Living rooms, bedrooms, and even the bathroom can be immersed in atmosphere and basic experiences thanks to a mobile Snoezelkar to stimulate the senses of these young people.
