Gouden Carolus Bicycle Route

After the Bollekesroute, the Trappistenroute, and the Duvelroute, there is now a Gouden Carolusroute in the province of Antwerp. Like the other beer routes, this one is also based on the cycling network with junction points.

Gouden Carolus is brewed at the Het Anker brewery in Mechelen. The new route lies between Mechelen and Boom and connects the brewery with the Begijnhof in Mechelen and the whisky distillery of the Het Anker brewery in Blaasveld. There, the Gouden Carolus Single is distilled, which will be available on the market from December 2013.

In addition to these locations of Het Anker, the route passes several monuments, buildings, and waterways. For instance, you will pass by the palace of Margaretha of Austria, the Hof van Busleyden, the Begijnhof, the Zennegat, the provincial leisure facility De Schorre, and the provincial green space Vrijbroekpark. You travel along the car-free hiking paths from the canal in Leuven to the Dijle and the dike paths of the Zenne, Nete, and Rupel.

On the flyer, you will find a map of the route, the junction points, dining establishments, starting points, and attractions. The highlights along the route are briefly discussed. On the back, you receive practical information and an explanation about the brewery and the concept 'Beers from Antwerp'.

Practical
The Gouden Carolusroute is 58 km long with shortcuts of 27 and 48 km. The starting point is the Het Anker brewery in Mechelen or the provincial leisure facility De Schorre in Boom.
