Wandering in the land of Herve (B)

Wandering in the Land of Herve (approx. 59 km)
"Beautiful nature and landscape route through the Tuscany of Belgium"
START: Eetcafé/Pension "Riekelt", Rijksweg 184 in Rijckholt
(at the old Rijksweg between Gronsveld and Eijsden)
1. Leave the café to the right (= from now on R)
2. Take the 1st street on the left immediately (=L) "Brandwegske"
3. Turn right on the cycling route
4. Continue straight on this cycling route (approx. 2 km)
5. Cross the paved road
6. Follow the cycle path and descend slightly to the right
7. Continue along the cycle path past the Gulf petrol station "Patiel"
8. At the fork, turn right
9. Cross the Rijksweg and follow the cycle path to the left
10. Cross the border at Withuis and follow the cycle path
11. At the crossing with the threshold, continue straight ahead
12. After approx. 1.5 km at the fork in Berneau, turn right
13. Follow the village road along "Al Vile Cinse"
14. At the end, turn right onto the main road
15. Cross the Berwinne and go up under the railway viaduct
16. Just before the top of the slope, take the turn to the left
You pass the chapel of Ste. Maure from the 18th century
17. Follow this path through the farm Mons (municipality "Bombaye")
18. At the fork, keep left, descending to the Berwinne
19. Follow the road with the hairpin curve upwards
20. Just before the summit, take the 1st side road to the right
21. Follow this winding path along the selling stall "Passion du Naturel"
22. After approx. 0.5 km at the T-junction, turn right
23. Follow the descent along the football field (of "Royal Elan Dalhem")
24. At the roundabout in Dalhem, turn left
25. 1st side road to the right over the Berwinne to Chenestre
Now follows an ascent (with two short descents)
26. After approx. 1 km at the fork, go straight up ("Route des Crètes")
27. After St. André's church, turn right ("Rue de Fontaine")
28. After the descent and steep ascent, cross the "Route de Mortier"
29. Continue up the path ("Rue Neuve-Haye")
30. After 500 m, turn left, continue up the path and leave the village
31. After approx. 1 km at a curve, follow the small path straight ahead
32. At the highest point at the fork by the red gate, turn left

33. Follow the path down
34. At the T-junction, turn right to the busy road Visé-Battice
35. Cross this road and descend past beautiful farms
36. At the fork, turn right
37. At the top of the hill, turn left (to Charneux)
38. In Charneux, cross the intersection
39. At the fork after the church, turn left, following the path down
40. After the descent, take the 1st street on the right (next to "Ferme des Beaux Monts")
41. After approx. 1 km at the Y-fork, turn left (right goes up)
42. At the 1st fork, turn right and at the 2nd fork, turn left down
43. Follow the winding path (ignore dead-end side roads)
44. At the T-junction, turn left (the prohibition sign does not apply to cyclists)
45. Then follow a very steep ascent,
You can manage this ascent better on foot due to the poor road surface.
46. On the busy road, turn left
47. 1st side road on the right ("Chemin des Mesures"), continue following this
48. At the intersection, go straight towards THIMISTER, here at the fork turn right
There are two nice cafés in the square for a BREAK
49. Leave the square to the left along the church
50. At the roundabout, turn left ("Rue de la Station")
51. After approx. 1.5 km at the fork, turn left
52. In Clermont, take 3rd street on the left, direction "Froidthier"
53. Follow the cobbled street through the gatehouse
54. Follow the long descent, ignoring side roads
55. At the lowest point of the descent, turn right (towards "Val Dieu")
56. On this busy road from Battice to Aubel, after approx. 250 m turn left
57. Now follows a nice descent towards "Val Dieu"
58. Ignore side roads until the intersection at the abbey
If you plan to visit this beautiful abbey (with café), turn right here
59. Otherwise, continue straight ahead
60. After approx. 2.5 km through the valley of the Berwinne
61. At the intersection, diagonally to the right, follow the winding path upwards ("Fechereux")
62. 1st path to the right (towards "Les Waides")
63. In Les Waides at the fork by the mailbox, go straight
64. Follow the steep ascent with beautiful views on both sides
65. After the summit, cross the busy road Visé-Aachen
66. Follow the road towards "Heydt"
67. Ignore side roads and follow the path between villas
68. Follow the winding descent towards Warsage
69. At the bottom in Warsage at the 2nd fork, turn right (towards "Fouron le Comte")
70. Follow the path to ’s-Gravenvoeren under the railway viaduct
71. At the intersection in ’s-Gravenvoeren, diagonally turn left
72. Shortly after the 1st traffic calming, turn right (between two hedges)
73. Continue this cycle path and cross the main road
74. Follow the path to Mesch (between two thick posts)
75. After the border post, go straight at the 1st fork
76. In Mesch (after the former café "’t Koffer") take the 2nd street on the right and at the fork turn left
77. At the intersection, past the "Laathof", turn left
78. At the Y-fork, turn right upwards
79. At the fork before the Rijksweg, hold right
80. Follow the path back along the Gulf petrol station "Uit de Patiel"
81. At the fork, turn left upwards
82. Cross the main road
83. Follow the cycle path back to Rijckholt
84. In Rijckholt, take the 2nd path on the left ("Brandwegske")
85. At the petrol station, turn right back to the café "Riekelt" (END)
