This is a route that can be used both on foot and by bicycle, mostly along the water, passing among others the Liedemeerspark of Merelbeke (southwest) and the Gentbrugse Meersen (east). Except for the southern part, almost the entire route runs along hunting trails, which are free from motorized traffic.
