This bike tour crosses a part of East Flanders from north to south, but this time does not take the Scheldt as a guide. Rather, it is the sleepy villages like Ouwegem, Huise, and Ooike that shape the view along the route. Hopefully, the wind will blow from the right direction so that you can ride swiftly through the fresh air.

1. Meeting point in the village center of Zevergem. With the church on your left, you exit the village. Then you go straight into Pont Zuid; in fact, you just have to turn left. At a fork where Pont Zuid goes left, you turn right into Landuitstraat. A little further, you come to a Y-junction, here you follow Landuitstraat to the left. Continue straight over the narrow asphalt that winds through the rural beauty. Passing the white Sint-Annakapel from 1746, you reach Steenweg, a priority road. Cross left and continue to the roundabout. Here straight ahead, still Steenweg, towards Eke. The first road to the right, Kwaadstraat, you must take. At a small chapel on the right side of the road, you must turn left and then right into Plaanstraat. Follow Plaanstraat to the end and then turn left, through Bosstraat, to Stationsstraat, where you turn right towards Nazareth. You cross the railway, continue until shortly after the arrow towards De Pinte, but you turn left at the Arona transmitter into Oudenaardse Heerweg. Now, go straight for a while until you reach a T-junction, where you follow Oudenaardse Heerweg to the left and then right at the next intersection.
2. You are still following Oudenaardse Heerweg. Drive to the intersection (commonly known as Edemolen), cross Deinse Baan and continue on the other side through Boeregemstraat. You pass over Leebeek, Lozer, renaming it Nazarethse steenweg. Where Nazarethse steenweg bends to the right, you go straight into Boeregemstraat again. Ignore all side streets once more and enjoy the agricultural landscape. At the end, you come to Ouwegemsesteenweg, which is N435. On the right, you see a place name sign for Lozer and Ouwegem. Cross this road diagonally to the left and follow Pluimke. Directly after an old mill riff, turn right into Molenstraat. At the fork, ignore Hoogboeregemstraat and continue straight on Molenstraat until you reach Huise. You travel through gently rolling landscapes until the end of Molenstraat. At the small intersection, with the unpaved road leading to Huisekoutermolen directly in front of you, turn left into Kloosterstraat. Pass by an old monastery, now Home Vijvens, and across the beautiful Huise square, the village center of the village of the same name. Continue straight across the square into Driesstraat, ignore Kleine Dries on the left, and follow Driesstraat first to the right and then to the left. Be careful, there is also a Driesstraat to the right, but it ends. At first, the road slopes down a bit, and then you rise to a T-junction with a chapel. Here, you must turn right into Rooigemstraat. On your right, you have a beautiful panoramic view over Huise.
3. You arrive at an impressive white farm Hof Ter Rooigem and follow Loweg to the left. You ascend gently and at the T turn right, over a gently rolling path. At the small intersection with the St.-Hilarius linden, you go straight, passing Ruisschaerthof and a bit further after a place name sign Ooike. At the next small intersection, you go straight, still on Loweg, until you reach Deinzestraat (N459). Cross this and follow Ooikeplein. Opposite the church, take St.-Amandusstraat to the left. At the small intersection with Kerkkouterstraat, go straight and at the T with a farm, turn right into Trompestraat. The reward: a magnificent panorama. You travel through a beautiful stretch of hollow way towards a farm. Cross the small intersection with Keistraat, follow, and descend the Volkaartsbeekstraat straight ahead. Follow this path until you reach Oudenaardseweg. A quick left and then right into Vierschaar. Then turn right again into Volkaartsbeekstraat until the T-junction, where you go left towards Moregemplein. Curve with the road to the right and at the end go left towards Bevere (municipality of Oudenaarde). Then take the second road on the right, Losstraat. At a small intersection with a beautiful chapel, go straight towards the railway. At the T, turn right, then cross the railway and keep left at the fork. This way you reach Kortrijkstraat, which you follow left until the former Kompas-Camping. Bus stop Camping Vlaamse Ardennen. To close the loop back to the starting point, you can take the bike route 'Along the Scheldt from Oudenaarde to Ghent' for the return. The starting point in Zevergem is just a few hundred meters from the Scheldt (see also www.pasar.be/fietsen).
