Discover all benefitsWith the main entrance of the Provincial Recreation Domain De Schorre (V) in Boom on your left, you start, direction 26. Cross the Kapelstraat and cycle through Hoek to junction 26. Turn right, direction 28, through an alley and continue along the Rupel to junction 28, at Grand Café Kaai and the ferry from Boom to KleinWillebroek. Cycle completely down the quay, towards 29, and then dive with a hanging cycle path above the Rupel under the N177. You cycle over the entrance of the Rupeltunnel and arrive at the Broekweg after a bend. Follow the cycle path to the left until junction 29. Continue straight ahead, direction 34. At café Noeveren continue straight into the Nielsestraat until you can turn left into Noeveren. At the brickyard museum EMABB turn right and through the district Noeveren 1, the Bokrijk of the brick kilns. Along the Rupel and the sea lock You pass café De Koophandel, where nothing has changed inside for years, past drying sheds, ring ovens, fireplaces, workers' houses and master guest houses. At the first fork turn left and further on you cycle via a bridge into Niel (actually the hamlet of Hellegat). This used to look like Noeveren, now there is a lot of new construction. Past a playground and the church you come to the Rupeldijk at the Chapel of the Hellegat. Follow the Rupel to the right and leave the river at canoe club de Rupelsneppen. Turn left into a road for pedestrians and cyclists and dive through a tunnel under the grounds of concrete factory Coeck.
Then climb to the Heideplaats and follow the Rupelstraat to the Rupel. Follow it to the right, with the church of Wintam and the tower of the sea lock on the other side. Past tavern Tolhuis-Veer and café De Vré/Cornellie under the linden trees to junction 34. Here direction 31. Cross the Rupel by ferry to the North Island 2 of Wintam. Turn right, choose the lock gate with the green light at the sea lock and continue cycling to junction 31. Continue straight ahead, direction 35, parallel to the sea lock until the Scheldt and then to the left. 500 m past restaurant De Groenen Dijk you come to junction 54, on the transfer to Rupelmonde, with a beautiful view of Steendorp and Rupelmonde. For the shortening, you need to transfer, to node 86. Please note, because the ferry only sails in July and August every day. Continue along De Notelaer to Temse Fiets until junction 01 on the Dijkgravin. Continue straight ahead, direction 02, past hunting pavilion De Notelaer 3, until junction 02 abroad. Keep following the Scheldt upstream, towards 03, with a nice view of the Scheldt bridges of Temse. Dive under the bridges, but do not turn left to 03. Turn right onto the cycle path of the new Scheldt bridge, with a view of the Scheldt and Temse. On the other side down to the stairs. Descend by bike to the Wilford quay. Under the Scheldt bridges you reach junction 75. Follow the cycle path on the left, direction 74, through a tunnel and along a unloading quay to a narrow gravel path, which takes you back to the asphalted Scheldedijk. Further downstream to junction 74. Keep following the dike, direction 86, past salt marshes and the chapel of Our Lady of the Scheldt, with hunting pavilion De Notelaer on the other side and further the mouth of the Rupel. In Steendorp you cycle around a somewhat hidden tidal harbor and past a former brickyard 4. Continue over the Scheldedijk until you have to leave the dike again just before the Nieuwe Scheldewerven. Then turn right past the buildings and on the T back to the Scheldt. Past brasserie-restaurant Scaldiana and the statue of the Black Madame you reach junction 86, at the ferry to Wintam. In the land of Mercator Cycle on, direction 72. Along the Westhinder, over a square with the Graventoren and around the Tidal Mill and a chapel. Then climb up to the statue of Mercator on Mercator Square. Turn right before the church, turn right again at the end and then left. You cycle out of Rupelmonde and pass the Mercatorhoeve. The narrow asphalt road turns into a cobblestone road, between two canals to a square with a tree. Turn left until you reach junction 72. Turn right, direction 71, along a canal on a road for cyclists and pedestrians. Where the stream flows into the pond of Wissekerke Castle in Basel, you arrive at junction 71. Turn right into the Verkortingsdreef, direction 70, until you reach the Lange Gaanweg. You follow them between the works for controlled flood areas to the Kallebeek ferry. On the other side you are in Hemiksem, at junction 70. Follow the Scheldt to the right, direction 30, past bodegaeetcafé De Veertoren and factories. In the Scheldt bend you can see the mouth of the Rupel, which you could just see from the other side. At a factory turn left and then right through the gate of the abbey of Hemiksem. You will pass abandoned factory buildings and can take a side path to the St. Bernard Abbey (1244) 5. Leave the abbey site, again along the Scheldt. Past the nameplate of Schelle you come to junction 30. Turn left, direction 18, next to the Vliet until you reach the sports hall of Schelle. Crisscross to Rumst Then pay close attention to the signage. Through a maze of streets you enter the Steenwinkelstraat. Cross the railway and turn right further into Tuinlei and then Oude Bosstraat, now on a narrow asphalt road between the fields to Consciencestraat. Follow it to the left. Where the street bends to the right, you cycle straight ahead, between poles on a gravel road and along a football field to a busier road. Follow the cycle path to the left. Turn into Lode Zielenslaan and turn right at the end. Just before the level crossing, take the wide red cycle path, further along the railway. At junction 18, continue to follow the railway towards 25. Via a bridge you cross the N171a and continue cycling to the railway bridge for cyclists and pedestrians. Turn left, past café De Wandeling, direction 24. Via the Noeverselaan you come to the Antwerpse steenweg. Cross the slot of the A12 and cycle to the Stadspark of Boom. Turn left, past the football field of Rupelboom to the T. Right and immediately left into VW32, a beautiful footpath to the Prederikherenhoevestraat. Right. Just past Groenlaar, a school for special education, you come to junction 24 and turn left into VW 34, direction 23, past pollard willows to the Monnikenhofstraat. At the end turn left with a sharp bend into Clemenshoek. At the fork, at junction 23, turn right to the dead-end Schensbossen, also BW 26, direction 22. At the end you follow the narrow neighborhood road to the left until you reach the Clemenshoek again. Turn right until you can turn right into Donkerstraat. Cross the Eikenstraat and cycle with a right-left nod into the Keulshaagweg. At the first fork turn right into the Beguine Woods, until you can go straight into a dead end road that turns into BW41. Via this picturesque neighborhood road you wind around a horticultural company and between the meadows until you come into a lane on the right, which you follow to the left until you reach junction 22. Turn right, direction 50, until you reach the stone road on Waarloos. Turn right, direction Reet and then left into Morenhoevestraat. Turn right on the T and at the crossroads and continue between meadows and fields until you reach the Rumstsestraat. On the other side is an old water tower that has been converted into a tourist watchtower. Left. Don't worry about side roads and descend into the center of Rumst. Cycle towards Terhagen and then turn left into the Nijverheidsstraat, past a playground to the Rupeldijk and junction 50. Follow the river to the right, direction 26, past the center of Terhagen and museum Rupelklei 6. Just past 't Steencayken you come to junction 26. Cycle towards 24 to the parking lot of the Schorre.
