Our walk begins spiritually at the Abbey of Val-Dieu. At the end of our tour, we leave for the military tour with Fort MN29, a World War II observation post, now a memorial.
Val-Dieu Abbey (Dutch: Godsdal) is the starting point for a walk in the north of the Pays de Herve, bordering the Voer region. The Pays de Herve is a particularly green and slightly hilly bocage landscape with many meadows and orchards surrounded by typical hedges. The region is best known for fruit growing, cider, cork syrup and Hervekaas. Val-Dieu Abbey is a Cistercian monastery and celebrated its eight-hundredth anniversary in 2016. The courtyard and the listed 19th century garden are freely accessible and there is the bistro Le Casse-Croûte for a drink and a drink. In an outbuilding of the abbey is still being prepared.
