Boterland is located in the polder region around Diksmuide and is characterized by vast meadows intersected by numerous ditches, as well as the occasional large farm. From Diksmuide, you cycle along charming villages such as Sint-Jacobskapelle, Nieuwkapelle, Oudekapelle, Lampernisse, Zoutenaaie, and Pervijze. An unavoidable theme that recurs is that of the First World War. For four years, the IJzer here formed the frontline. Along the route, you will discover numerous monuments, memorials, and bunkers that remind us of this.
