The region around Wervik once had a thriving tobacco industry. In this land full of meadows, fields, and forests, pipe and tobacco are paramount. The tobacco plantations shape the landscape. Memories of '14-18', and especially of the infamous eastern edge of the Ypres Salient, are still alive here. You drive through the provincial area of De Palingbeek, the Den Doel domain forest, and the Ieper O.C.M.W. forests.
