During this route, you will explore the border landscape northwest of Poperinge. You will ride between Watou and Beveren, on both sides of the French-Belgian border. The central theme of the route is smuggling activity. You start in the artist village of Watou and cycle across the border to the French Houtkerke. From there, you continue towards Rexpoëde. Back on Belgian soil, you pass through Beveren-on-the-IJzer, Oost-Cappel, and Roesbrugge-Haringe. Interesting fact: The French-Belgian border is also referred to as 'Schreve' in the region.
