The route leads through the characteristic coastal protection landscape of the Westhoek at the Belgian-French border. Centrally located along the route are the Moeren, the lowest agricultural area in Belgium. This 3000 ha polder area was drained in the 17th century. The landscape is characterized by large rectangular plots and a linear pattern of canals and roads. The route passes an old NATO radio mast and two old windmills.
