Starting place is the spacious free parking opposite the Sint-Quirinuskerk of Vlimmeren (V). With the church on your left, you walk a few hundred meters along the quite busy Kerkstraat. At house number 5, just past the red-crossed out name sign of Vlimmeren, take the field road on the left. Immediately you walk on the network of walking nodes, which you continue to follow from here. • Soon you are, at the level of a lonely oak tree, at junction 20. Turn right here, direction junction 71. The road turns to the right and you reach a traffic road. Follow that 50 meters to the left and then follow Klaverheide diagonally left. At a strawberry vending machine (1) you cross the busy lane again. Continue walking in the direction of junction 71, which you reach after a beautiful piece of forest. • Turn right to junction 84, past caravan park Siësta. Where the dirt road turns into concrete, you will find junction 84 on the left. Immediately right past Molenheide to junction 43. Turn left at the T-junction and turn right at the next intersection. You will find junction 43 on the busy N104, which you immediately leave towards junction 82. Renaissance castle and record sausage On the moody triangular square (2) with junction 82 you should definitely take a look at the Renaissance castle Hof d'Intere. Continue via the Vendelmansweg to junction 21 and junction 20, where you arrive via a small path after some zigzagging between meadow and hedges. Here turn left to junction 83 where you turn right, towards junction 88. This is a wide dirt road through a wooded area with conifers and a dune on the right. • Ignore all side roads up to the Doelaard road sign, where you leave the wide dirt road to follow a narrower forest path straight ahead. This quickly brings you to a fen (3) with shelter, bench and a picnic area. You're at junction 88. From here you reach node 1 very quickly. Now continue through forest, to junction 89. The noise of the nearby E34 motorway unfortunately disturbs the peace in the forest. • At a zone where Natuurpunt is restoring heathland and fens, turn left. Continue to follow the signs indicating junction 89. You reach this junction via a cycle path and a narrow forest path. Turn left, direction junction 90 and then turn right to junction 91 a little further away. Now to junction 11, via a beautiful road through forest and meadow. There is a sofa and a sign explaining the Visbeek valley (4). Turn left towards junction 12, where your resurfaced road will be pushed underfoot. You continue on this road until junction 13 and continue to junction 57. • Just through a residential area to junction 56 and you will come to the church of Vlimmeren again. Next to it, at the old town hall of the village, you can see that on August 15, 2013, a sausage of more than three kilometers long was made here. Good for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records
