We did this as a trip with the ONAK team. To successfully do this adventure you need a high tide going down. Check www.waterinfo.be for info on this. Stepping out of the canoe inside the zoo might cause problems. We don't advise to do this. This video shows you what other obstacles we had to overcome:-).
