Shiver
We leave at the church of Rillaar. We go to Aarschot to cross at the traffic lights. That's how we get to the Kortakker. We take the first asphalt road link, where the built-up area ends. At the first bend we walk on the right onto the sandy path, a little further we pass a field chapel. At the end we turn left and follow the road until an asphalt road ends up on our track. Here we take the sandy path on the right. At the end, at the height of a house, we take the narrow path on the left that widens a little further. Turn right on the asphalt road. At the next intersection, over the bridge, turn left. We leave the main track.
To our left we see the Great Motte that we follow almost to the next bridge. Here we take the path on the right between the houses. A little further on we get a right turn and then turn left with the path.
This is how we end up in the water extraction area 'Weerderlaak'. This extraction consists of 21 wells with a depth of about 16 meters. The Aarschot water production centre supplies the municipalities of Aarschot, Begijnendijk and Tielt-Winge with drinking water. The raw water is purified in the water production centre by means of filtration through open and closed sand filters, aerated via Dresdner nozzles and disinfected by adding a minimum amount of chlorine.
In order to ensure effective protection of groundwater, protection zones have been demarcated around each water abstraction. In these zones, strict regulations apply to prevent pollution of groundwater, including the construction of fuel oil tanks and sewers and the storage of pollutants.
When we arrive at the Demer, we walk to the right and continue to follow the path for a long time until we come to an asphalt road again. To our left we see Langdorp and we get a view of the church.
The asphalt road leads to a T-point that we turn left. At the next T-junction turn left up and continue until you reach an intersection where three roads meet. Here we take the cul-de-sac on the left that flows into a dirt road that we follow. This way we end up on the dike of the Demer which we go up on the right. Striking here are the many meanders with a rich water vegetation.
On the way we cross a bridge and take the first path on the right. When we get back on the asphalt road we turn right again. At the next fork we keep left.
On the rather steep downhill we take about half a path on the right up between the roadside. A little further past the last house we keep right and then go left on the mountain. So we come to a pine forest, to our left, where we take the path down. We continue to follow all the way down where we turn left and immediately back right. Just over the bridge we keep left. We end up at the traffic lights where we left.
