This hike leads along beautiful paths through the southern foothills of the vast Forêt d‘Anlier. Since the 16th century, high-quality iron products have been manufactured in this region using water-powered hammers and distributed throughout Europe. The hike begins at the “Place Pierre Nothomb” and passes the lake, the “Étang du Châtelet,” into the magnificent deciduous forests of the Forêt d‘Anlier. After a few kilometers, the enchanted “Château du Pont d‘Oye” (17th century) is reached. The further path leads to the ruins of an old forge, the “Forge du Prince.” A sign explains the production and the special advantages of Walloon iron products from the 16th to 18th centuries (however, only in French). From an elevated viewpoint, one can keep a good overview of the ruins of the entire facility.
