This is the route for the second day of the 3-day event "Samen Sterk" organized by the IKG (integrated cancer center Ghent) of AZ Maria Middelares.

Every day the participants drive about 100km. The sponsorship money they raise goes to the Back on Track fund for the benefit of the cancer patients of AZ Maria Middelares.

The first day the participants of AZ Maria Middelares drive to Lier. The second day there is this tour from Lier and the third day the participants drive back from Lier to AZ Maria Middelares.

The event is organized for the third consecutive year. In 2018 we stayed in Messines and in 2017 in Oostduinkerke.

Via www.routeyou.com the route is available on GPS, but the route can also be driven via the bicycle junctions. The nodes are included in the documentation of this route on routeyou.

This route first follows the Nete canal, the Kleine Nete and the Albert canal. At Herentals, the route follows the old railway bed to Westmeerbeek. Through forests, residential districts and agricultural area around Herselt, Ranselt and Houtvenne it goes towards Heist op den Berg. Near Gestel, the route eventually follows the Grote Nete to reach Lier again via the Netekanaal.
