Around the Abbey of Val Dieu (B.)

Accident route along well-maintained roads and paths (mostly paved), starting from the Abbey of Val Dieu.
This beautiful Belgian Cistercian abbey is located on the road from Mortroux to Aubel (south of the Voer region).

The route partially follows a nature path of the conservation organization Natagora.

Route description:

1. Leave the parking lot of the abbey to the left.
2. Cross the Berwinne and go straight up at the intersection.
3. Turn right at the first curve and take the stairway to the left.
4. Follow the hollow way upwards and turn left onto the paved road.
5. Take the first road to the left (“Groumette”).
6. Follow this path to a fork at the highest point and turn down left here.
7. Cross the continuous road diagonally to the left at the bottom and go back over the Berwinne.
8. Follow the path upwards and take the first road to the left (unpaved).
9. Continue straight on this path and then down to the continuous road.
10. Cross this diagonally to the right and follow the hiking path steeply upwards to the left of the restaurant.
11. At the top of the square, keep left.
12. Follow this path along the construction company Etienne Piron. In the corner on the right is the spring of St. Jean-Sart with wonderfully cool spring water.
13. Stay on this paved path and go to the right through a turnstile before the first house on the right side.
14. Follow the marked hiking path diagonally through the orchard and then along the meadow to a paved path.
15. Turn left here and follow this path down along a beekeeping area.
16. Before the first residential house on the left (No. 300), turn left.
17. Follow this hollow unpaved path upwards to a junction.
18. Turn right here and go left through a turnstile by the house into the meadow area.
19. Follow the hiking path diagonally down through the meadow.
20. At the bottom, go right through the turnstile and turn left.
21. Follow this path along the dam pond to the continuous road.
22. Turn right here and a little further on the left is the parking lot of the abbey.
