High Veluwe Day 1

Day 1: Keerbergen, Herentals, Tielen, Turnhout, Baarle-Hertog, Baarle-Nassau, Tilburg, Oirschot

Passing Herenthout on the old railway line to Herentals. Across Herentals. Time for a first coffee?
We leave Herentals along the railway line. In Tielen, passing Ijsboerke and the military area on Tielerheide and continuing along the tracks to Turnhout.
In Turnhout, we visit the Playing Card Museum. Interesting for young and old. You learn everything about printing techniques, playing cards, etc. You can also have (cheap) drinks and picnic. We continue crisscrossing past the Beguinage of Turnhout and the castle of the Dukes of Brabant, let’s just say the courthouse. We have organized a guide and learn a lot about the castle, the courthouse, the region, the nature...
We leave Turnhout again along the old railway line. This is called 'Bel's Lijntje' here and is well-signposted to Tilburg. By the way, we follow it through the enclave of Baarle Hertog/Baarle Nassau. Upon entering Tilburg, we make a detour along the abbey OLV Van Koningshoeven, where they drink La Trappe instead of holy water. 'Worth the detour' says the Michelin guide then.
We spend the night at Landgoed De Rosep in Oisterbeek, a good hotel in the midst of greenery. You can also hike and bike nicely here through the forests and along the Venn.
