Half Marathon Zenne Dijle (Weerde Muizen Hever Schiplaken Elewijt)

This half marathon starts at the Sint-Martinuskerk in Weerde (opposite café 't Schoonzicht; ample parking).
The loop is drawn in clockwork direction, runs along the Bloso domain Hofstade, then takes the shortening at the Ambroosbrug (railway line 27B, up the roadside and take the separated path over the Vaart: Wait when a train passes by! If you cycle this loop with the family, it is best to take the Hofstade bridge over the canal southeast of this railway bridge -too dangerous on the Zemst side-).
The loop then takes the north-west direction to Mechelen; behind the Planckendael Zoo and the Barebeeksiphon we take the path on the right towards Muizen, and follow the Barebeek behind the Leuvensesteenweg. Below the railway lines it is just to follow the railway on the left (not the slope along the railway line, take the flat parallel road on the right). A little further (at the steps to the railway line on the left) we turn right towards Dijle. On the main street - at a bank branch - right and left to the Dijle, there the towpath on the right (follow the left bank of the Dijle for a long time).
After Hever we leave the Dijle on the right and after a good 150m on the left take a forest path through the Donk. It can be soggy in certain places in the rainy season (see the POIs in the enlarged map). We come to a street and take the path on the left of this street: This is not a private road, but there is a sign 'private' because on the left side of the path there is a private house. We follow this forest road along a bend on the right and it ends up a bit further on a T. (You can also go straight on via a small path, but this ends up on private property where you can only go to the left, we have to go to the right). From here you will not find a description/map of the path to follow in the Donk:
On the T so right; a little further there is a path back to the right: Do NOT take it but try to follow the closure of the private domain that is somewhere to your left. This closure makes a 90° turn; whatever you have to come up with; which you also take. The closer to the sealing wire, the drier the path (it is a puddle, see the POIs). A little further over a stream and we are out of the Donk in Hever.
Then right and left, cross the railway line and continue straight on to the Schiplaken bridge over the Leuvensevaart (crossing Leuvensesteenweg to the left, then immediately right).
At the roundabout, take the second right and continue to follow this road along Schiplaken (Blokstraat, on your left there is a safe walking route separated by pig backs with the roadway).
After a 90° turn to the right, you have the exit on the left at the cobblestone strip to the Schiplakenkasteel. Take this exit and continue towards Elewijt.
In Elewijt take the T right and left along the sports fields, and continue walking straight through the road except for local traffic. On the Tervuursesteenweg left and right, and on the T left direction Weerde (a little further on the highway).
Over the Senne, take the Dorpsstraat on the right to your starting point. At this crossroads you have your
21.1 km completed.

To your starting point the Church it is still 200m further.

If you start your loop in a different place and complete it, you have covered 21.3km to your starting point.
