On the edge of the Scheldepolder lies the picturesque center of Bazel. Behind the beautiful village square is a water castle that connects to the Potpolder. You will discover all the facets of this beautiful piece of nature. From the high Scheldedamm, you not only have a view of the river but also of the peace and quiet of the moist meadows. The Barbierbeek makes it clear how humans have taken control of the water management of the area. On the way to Kruibeke, you will learn about the wild nature of a bog forest.

DEPARTURE LOCATION
You can reach the church of Bazel by taking the E17 at exit 16-Kruibeke in Antwerp and following the N419 via Kruibeke to Bazel. From Ghent, take exit 15 Temse and follow the N16 to Temse. There, turn left onto the N419 via Rupelmonde to Bazel. From Brussels, take the A12 to Willebroek, then take the N16 towards Sint-Niklaas. Before the Scheldebrücke in Temse, take the exit right to the N419, which leads you via Rupelmonde to Bazel.

PARKING
At the church square on Koningin Astridplein.

NATURE OF THE ROAD
Gravel and cobbled paths, dirt roads, earth road on the Scheldedamm, and grass.

ACCESSIBILITY
Impossible for strollers and wheelchairs; rubber boots are useful in the Kruibeekse Polder after rainy weather.
