The Bunt Hamme-Kastel-Roggeman 22 km

Start: Parking at Ringdijk Bunt 33, 9220 Hamme. Circular hike in a clockwise direction. 22 km. We start at the Ringdijk of the Controlled Floodplain Area (G.O.G.) and also of a Reduced Tidal Area (G.G.G.), after the inlet sluices were constructed and the towing path DrieGoten along the Scheldt was adapted up to the flood dike. The pumping station pumps the excess water out of the ring ditch over the ring dike into the floodplain. We reach the Scheldedijk and follow the towing path DrieGoten to the right and now follow the hiking junctions (WkP): 132 - 131 - 139 - 140 - 143 - 145 - 147 - 156 - towards 155 to the right into Warandestraat and then the first left into Bernarduswijk and keep right along Bosstraat, at the intersection diagonally left follow Baasrodeveerstraat and right to the parish church of Kastel. There we find a bench to rest briefly and have a snack. After that, we turn back: left down Baasrodeveerstraat, Vrijboomstraat, and Pannenstraat. At the beginning of Aubroekstraat, we take the old Gaandijk to the right towards Moerzeke: heading for WkP 157. At Bellemansdijk, we continue along Gaandijk towards KPT 163. Twenty meters after the large fish pond (on the right), we turn left, over the bridge, and follow the avenue until the cycle path, which we follow left along Kasteellaan towards WkP 159-160 (de Kill)-162-Portal benedendijks to the nature reserve Roggeman, located in an old arm of the Scheldt. 50 meters before WkP-161 - left the access to the nature reserve along the old Scheldt up to Hebbestraat. Follow this on the right and over Molenstraat to Moerzeke Dorp with kiosk. Take a short break and have something to drink; that should work out. With our backs to the church door at the corner of Kasteellaan, we go through the gate of the castle park. On the left, we see the mausoleum of Blessed Priest Poppe and before the bridge over the castle moat, we go left across the soccer field and reach the corner of the castle moat Kasteellaan and follow this straight past the building of Carmel of Theresia of Jesus. We follow the Gaenweg to the left and at Kleine Broekstraat we turn right twice until König-Albert-Dijk. We follow the dike on the left (north) in the direction of WkP 165-142 until Gijven. We continue on the König-Albertdijk to the left and at the chapel of Saint Rita, we find a well-maintained green space with a selection of benches suitable for every season and any weather condition. We walk a bit further along the dike to fully enjoy the beautiful polder landscape. At the next passage of the dike, we walk on the left side of the dike and now reach the Vrouwenbroekdijkwegel. Following this, we reach the Driegoten ferry WkP 131-132 and continue on the Ringdijk around the Bunt to our parking lot opposite the Wuitensnest.
