Silly is a village in Hainaut, just above the language border. Remarkable is the name Zullik, a district of Opzullik, and the translation into French refers to Bassilly (low Zullik).

In the center, there is the Brasserie de Silly, a brewery (sixth generation) from 1850 that has survived both world wars with its Silly beers. On Sunday mornings, there is a (farmers) market on the Place Communal from 8 AM to 1 PM.

The hiking trail leads 60% through the 'Bois de Silly', a beech forest. The forest is recognized as a 'Site of great biological interest' by the Walloon Region. Beautiful views of the region, nice paths along GR routes, and here and there a small incline to overcome.

Saint-Marcoult was the center of the resistance during World War II. You can listen to an audio sample marked on the route with a headphone (approximately at 12 km).
