The pond of the kalamijnterrils of Plombières is the legacy of a mining site today covered with an exceptional flora.
The roads you follow cross one of the most important lead and zinc tracks in Europe. During the industrial revolution of the 19th century, the region of Plombières was exflattered without any ecological concern. The didactic signs give an idea of the importance of the industrial site of the time. The area, where all industry has now disappeared, has become a nature reserve where the soil that still contains a lot of zinc is covered with typical flora. Here, nature took revenge.
By the way, did you know that there was a link with this mine and Napoleon. You can discover this link in this museum.
