The pedestrian bridge over the Barbierbeek. 7km circular walk
Departure at Scheldelei in Kruibeke, follow the ring dam towards Bazel and at the height of Oude Veerstraat turn left to the pedestrian bridge, which is equipped with a railing and a viewpoint. Over the bridge, follow the Scheldedijk to the right until the old Barbierbeek. To the right of the lock, go through the sluice gate and follow the beautiful dam path, past Tilleke Tang until reaching Kemphoekstraat. We turn left and before Kreeklinde turn left again (Gustje Pluim) onto a path with 2 layers of concrete (without cobblestones in the middle) until reaching Scheldedijk. We follow this to the left, past the old ferry house, the waterfalls, and the pyramid until reaching Scheldelei.

Finally, it is here, the long-promised pedestrian bridge, amidst nature, over the new Barbierbeek bed of 80 meters with a viewpoint for birdwatchers. It has been long awaited as it re-establishes a very direct and disappeared connection between the village of Kruibeke and the old ferry on the Schelde. The eternal mysterious attraction between humans and water is thus addressed. One of the goals of those executing the Sigma works is, by the way, to connect people more with nature... Success guaranteed! A gem of a short hike is thus promoted. The slightly longer circular walk of 7km enhances the enjoyment along the dam path of the Kruibeekse Kreek, where Tilleke Tang tapped her beers in the fisherman's canteen for many years. The tranquility that now prevails there is appreciated by the beavers and deer. Each season brings its own charm.
