This route begins in Esneux, at the large parking lot along the Ourthe (note that there are market days, in which case you need to park your car all the way at the back (toward the west)).
The route predominantly runs along quiet roads and only about four times are busier thoroughfares used over a distance of about 0.5 to 1 km.
If you follow the route counterclockwise, you can expect the following climbs:
Roche aux Faucons,
Col de Bonsgnée,
Côte de Berleur,
Côte de Limont,
Côte de Géromont,
ascent to Vien via the hamlet of La Rock,
Les Kimones,
ascent to Insegotte via Sy,
Côte d'Oneux,
Côte Ghotale,
the steep Chera de la Gombe (up to 20%),
and a final ascent to Fontin.

Near Sy, you cross the Ourthe via the cycle path/footpath along the railway bridge (you need to dismount briefly there).
On the way back (and at the very beginning), the route primarily follows the concrete cycle path along the Ourthe to avoid the busy thoroughfare in the Ourthe valley.

If you want to bypass the steep ascent to Montfort, you can take the Rue de Lincé instead of the Chera de la Gombe (after leaving the Ourthe cycle path, go left instead of right and then cross the tracks).
