Onkerzele

Today you will explore the vast Geraardsbergen. You start at the Provincial Domain De Gavers in the municipality of Onkerzele to discover the transition area between the Dender and the Pajottenland. The main goal is the Bosberg, the final climb of the Ronde van Vlaanderen. As a warm-up exercise, you walk from the center of Onkerzele to Moerbeke. After that, the serious climbing to the summit of the Bosberg follows. During the descent, you can pause in the Raspaillebos and enjoy the tranquility in the Dender-Mark nature reserve. If you want to walk along the Dender for a bit longer, you can turn off towards Grimminge.
DEPARTURE POINT
You can reach De Gavers in Onkerzele (Geraardsbergen) by driving around Ninove on the N8, taking the road to Pollare, and continuing through Grimminge to Onkerzele. 1.5 km after Grimminge, the Gavers are on the right.

The parking lots at De Gavers.
TYPE OF ROAD
Earth and forest paths, some field paths, asphalt along the Dender; two busy road sections.
ACCESSIBILITY
Impossible for strollers and wheelchairs.
