Zevergem

Surprisingly close to the Ghent agglomeration, you will find quiet spots along the Scheldt in Zevergem. The river flows slowly here through a wide alluvial plain. Human hands have cut off the previous meanders, which provide some beautiful pieces of untouched nature. Bomput, Vanlooyput, and the Liesputjes are just some of the many dead arms you will pass by. Wet meadows and poplar groves complete the landscape. Some clay pits indicate the former brick split industry. Now, calmness is the great advantage of the area, watched over by Natuurpunt. The walk was created in collaboration with the local conservator Willem Audoor.
STARTING POINT
You can reach the church of Zevergem by leaving the E17 at exit 8-De Pinte and following the N60 towards Ghent. At the first traffic light, turn right towards Zevergem. At the next intersection, drive right under the E17 and immediately left. After 1.5 km at the T-junction, turn left towards the village square.

Low traffic asphalt roads and field paths.
ACCESSIBILITY
Impossible for strollers and wheelchairs; muddy after rain.
