This GPS hike is a combination of the Schaap trail (8.5 km) and the Duin trail (7.5 km), as they overlap. Attention: Dogs are not allowed on certain paths in these routes. In the Kalmthoutse Heide, at Stappersven, and in the surrounding area, twenty-five routes from 2 km to 8.5 km are offered, too many to describe them all here. We will probably return in August/September when the heather is in bloom to take a dog-friendly walk.

The wind blows again in the dunes on the heath, hours of hiking, bird watching, or just enjoying the wind. Views of the heath, the ponds, the forests, and discovering reptiles and amphibians, all along forest paths and sandy roads. There is also an observation tower to admire the surroundings. Many beautiful spots for picnicking by the water or in the dunes. In 2011, the area was struck by a devastating fire, and traces of burnt trees can still be seen along the route. For tranquility, it's best to start early for hiking, as it gets very crowded in the afternoon, and in the early morning you can even see fawns.
