Rural walk. If you arrive by car, it's best to park at the church in Itegem. At the beginning, we follow the Great Nete. For those who enjoy following hiking routes: 49, 50, 19, 98, continue straight for about 400 m following the Nete and then into the Schorren to 99, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 57, 56, 55, 54, 53, 51, 52, and so on to the church of Itegem. The GPS version, as indicated here, sometimes deviates slightly.
So first you walk through the river landscape of the Great Nete, then you go through the Schorren to arrive in Hallaar. Just a bit outside the village center, you come to the Domain Averegten (or Averechten). There is a playground and an adventurous play area for the children here. We cross the grounds to return over the meadows to Itegem.
