Description by the author

The starting point is the church of Mariadorp. Through Eijsden, partly over the cobblestones in the historic center, and along the castle, you cycle to Belgium and follow the concrete bike path/embankment along the Albert Canal for kilometers.
You leave the Meuse Valley by climbing Montagne Saint-Pierre. The descent brings you into the valley of the Jeker. Along the Jeker Valley (in French, this small river is called Geer), there are beautiful slopes. The language border is crossed multiple times. Characteristic of the region north of the Jeker (Haspengouw) are the many good concrete roads leading through fields (for the benefit of farmers). The wind has free rein here. The busier roads in the Jeker Valley are avoided by following separated bike paths and by using roads where only agricultural traffic is allowed.
Around the Jeker Valley, you will encounter the following climbs on this route:
- Plattenberg (also known as Tiendeberg or Zusserdel), a beautiful climb over a winding road through the orchards.
- Rue Joseph Mélotte
- Rue Nouwen-Canada
- Chavée Arecht / Arechtberg (max. 15%).

Afterwards, you descend the western side of the Hallembaye on a narrow asphalted back road, but be careful: at the bottom of the descent, there is a gate. Via the bike path along the western side of the Albert Canal, you arrive in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau and cross the Meuse. You climb out of the Meuse Valley via Côte de Sarolay. Then the route continues through the valley of Ste Julienne (descent + small climb). You enter Housse and descend to the valley of the Bolland. A longer climb follows to the village of Blégny, after passing through the village, you descend significantly to the tiny place Bolland, after which the brook Bolland is named. In Bolland, you leave the main road to abruptly begin the steep climb of the Thier Fouarge. Then the route takes you further into the Land of Herve, including to the tranquil village of Saint-André and a delightful descent towards the valley of the Berwijn (in French, Berwinne), which has carved out a considerable relief. The climb out of the Berwijn Valley to Neufchateau will offer you beautiful views at the end. A long descent brings you to Warsage and soon back into Dutch-speaking territory, where finally, the climb of the Heiweg follows.
