The self-service ferry 'Bathio' in Bachte was temporarily out of order/not usable/under repair between 22/08/2023 and mid 09/2023.
As of now (14 09 2023), this very nice ferry has been restored.
The Leie region is a surprising tourist area, where the 'Golden River' winds its way through a varied landscape, along charming villages, nature reserves, and the old meanders of the Leie.
This is a circular bike tour starting and ending at the church of Sint-Martens-Leerne (adequate parking available).
It is a varied route through the following Leie region: Sint-Martens-Leerne - Bachte-Maria-Leerne - Astene - Vosselare.
All this along a low-traffic route with many points of interest, including: the castle of Ooidonk, a Leie meander, the public swimming area 'Vosselare put', the self-service ferry in Bachte-Maria-Leerne, ...
Additionally, there are also several bike junctions included in this route.
