This is the middle section of the Markvalleipad, with the starting point http://www.trekkings.be/markvalleipad.htm being the least modified. At one place, I deviate from the walking junctions, it includes a boardwalk that wasn't there at the time (in this section we do not enter the Netherlands). This part goes from Mariaveld / GR 05 region / a piece of the Mark / and the boardwalk in the Aschputten nature reserve to the Mosten and back via Meer where the deviation is. YOU CAN ALSO START AT THE MOSTEN.
With a length of 42 km, the Markvalleipad is more of a 'short long-distance path'. The border with the Netherlands, which we cross a few times, is as winding as the river Mark itself through the Noorderkempen. This path runs through this most northern corner of Flanders over pancake-flat, sandy terrain where strawberry cultivation dominates.
Important update
The Markvalleipad has not been a long-distance route since June 2014. The separate signage has been removed, and now you mostly have to follow junctions from the 'Kempense Kolonies' network, and other paths. THE EASIEST WAY IS GPS and the route can be divided into 3 complete segments: the northern part (12.3 km), a middle section (16.1 km), and a southern part (19 km). I have now edited it to include more unpaved sections, and what they http://www.trekkings.be/markvalleipad.htm describe as the dullest part is out, and along the Mark (is a bike path of asphalt but not at all comparable to where it used to go and is in the northern part). The southern part has also been reasonably adjusted over slow roads that have been restored in the meantime.
