Markvalleipad South, Update May 2020 to more unpaved

This is the southern part of the Markvalleipad starting from http://www.trekkings.be/markvalleipadonderweg.html which has also been significantly adjusted to include slow paths that have since been restored, thus more unpaved than before. The route goes from Mariaveld to the former monastery of the German nuns which closed its doors in 2001, via the region GR 05 Kempen to the Dutch hamlet of Castelré, Schootse hoek, valley of Het Merkske, Gouveneursbossen, Blauwbossen: The slow paths you walk are: old footpath chapel road: dëw step path: castle footpath: tikkehaene road. DURING THIS WALK, 2 DEVIATIONS FROM THE WALKING NODES WILL OCCUR TO WALK BEAUTIFULLY!!!

With a length of 42 km, the Markvalleipad is more of a 'short long-distance path'. The border with the Netherlands, which we cross several times, is just as winding as the course of the river Mark itself through the Noorderkempen. The path runs in this most northern corner of Flanders over pancake flat, sandy terrain where the cultivation of strawberries dominates.

Important update
The Markvalleipad has not been a long-distance route since June 2014. The separate signage has been removed; you now mostly need to follow the junctions of the 'Kempense Kolonies' network and other paths. The easiest is GPS, and the route can be divided into 3 complete sections: the northern part (12.3 km), a middle section of (16.1 km), and a southern part (19 km). It has now been edited to be more unpaved, and what they http://www.trekkings.be/markvalleipad.htm describe as the dullest is out, and along the Mark (is a bike path of asphalt but totally incomparable with where it used to go and is in the northern part). The southern part has also been reasonably adjusted over slow paths that have since been restored.
