In the first week, you cycle towards Houthulst and the Westhoek. All recreational distances cycle from ‘KOERS’ via the ‘Stadspark Grote Bassin’ towards Oostnieuwkerke.
On the way, you pass the ‘Speelbos’ before reaching the renewed village center of Oostnieuwkerke. Via the ‘Vijverbos’, you reach the center of Westrozebeke.
The 50 & 75 km routes turn right in the center of Westrozebeke towards ‘Keuneleute’ and ‘Stadenberg’. From this ridge, you have magnificent views of the West Flanders hills.
Before reaching Houthulst, the 75 km route takes a right turn towards the ‘Vredesmolen’ in Klerken. On your way to Woumen, you pass near the visitor center ‘De Blankaart’.
You cycle through the Polders and the IJzerbroeken towards the water production center of ‘Blanckaart’ and the ‘Knokkebrug’.
You follow the ‘Ieperleekanaal’ upstream to the ‘3 grachten’, where you can pay a visit to ‘vzw De Boot’. From here, you cycle through the low-lying fields to the quiet polder village of Merken.
From Merken, you cycle via long and straight paths to the Melanedreef and the ‘Vrijbos’ where the 50 & 75 km routes continue together.
Via the old railway bed, you cycle towards the hamlet of ‘Vijfwegen’. Just before Passendale, you discover ‘De Oude Kaasmakerij’ and the ‘Canadian Memorial’ monument.
All distances ride from Passendale again together towards the ‘Stroroute’. Along the Stroroute, you pass the ‘Vierkavenbos’ in Moorslede before we arrive at ‘KOERS’.
