Beautiful varied hike that starts at the parking lot of the 'Blauwe Kei' in Lommel. The route runs along the canal from Beverlo, the Waaltjes forest, and the canal from Bocholt to Herentals.
Did you know about the Waaltjes forest: On the border between Mol and Balen, in the municipality of Lommel, lies the young Waaltjes forest, which covers an area of 205 hectares. The forest is named after the large group of Walloon migrants who sought refuge in this area around 1800 while looking for work in the local industry. The Waaltjes forest is mainly focused on quiet recreation; cyclists and hikers can enjoy this part of the Bosland National Park, one of four Flemish parks, in peace.
