It is still nice to walk. If you only follow the signs, there can be confusion at the bridge; you first cross the bridge and then return via the bridge to continue following the signs. During wet periods, the 'Bosbulkpad' may be underwater; the first part is fine, but at the second section, you can leave the path at the wooden barrier and take the asphalt road (near the highway parking) to the right until you reach the bridge (the route distance is the same).

The Latemse Meersen, paintings in the curves of the Leie, in a landscape shaped by the Leie. Gnarled pollard willows lead the route away from the Leie, into the meadows, surrounded by hay fields and farms. In 1996, the landscape was also officially protected. Natuurpunt presents two walking routes here, each with a separate starting point. The 'Afsnee-Keuzeroute' starts in Afsnee (in collaboration with Toerisme Oost-Vlaanderen) and in Sint-Martens-Latem starts the 'Latemse Meersen' which is good for 8 km. Parking is available at the church of Afsnee, Afsneedorp or also known at the ferry. The route is well marked.
