The route goes clockwise and starts from a parking lot by Lake Robertville. The first 30 kilometers are over gently rolling terrain with climbs of up to 60 meters elevation, during which you cross the valley of the River Warche several times. You also follow the paved bike path over a former railway line (Vennquerbahn) twice, which eventually brings you into Germany.

Then you descend into the valley of the River Our, and you are back in Belgium. Near Manderfeld, you leave the Our valley (and Belgium) for the first serious climb. This is soon followed by the climb to Schwazer Mann, the highest point of this route at 699 meters elevation, with sections of 10%.

Via Bleialf and a climb to Mützenich and the German-Belgian border, you return to Belgium in the Our valley, which you immediately leave upon arriving in Schönberg, to climb to the Werether Höhe (initially with a max. 16% gradient). The serious climbs are now behind you. On a section of Vennbahn (paved bike path over a former railway line), you cycle to Faymonville, and then to the village of Champagne and back to Lake Robertville.

The roads are mainly quiet in terms of traffic and have a good quality surface.
