The route of this promenade was cleaned on 27-07-2022. No idea if it is still current.
The Baraque Michel is located 675 m above sea level and owes its name to the Rhine refugee Michel Schmitz, who built a poor hut at this place in 1808, which later became the first bog inn. It is now a fairly large complex, which is both hotel-restaurant and café. The Baraque Michel is also home to the main access to the Hautes Fagnes Nature Reserve, much of which, including the Grande Fange, Les Potales and Les Wéz, extends in the immediate vicinity. A large part of the nature reserve is only accessible under the guidance of a competent guide (to be requested at the Centre du Parc Naturel de Botrange). But a large number of non-prohibited roads run along or through beautiful peat bogs, which deserve to be presented.
