Hastière - Freÿr

Start and end at Barrage d'Hastière (exit Domaine du Bonsoy) for a brisk and varied walk.

Via Isla de Waulsort and the village of Waulsort, you cross the Meuse again via the ferry (you can also avoid this section by staying on the south side of the Meuse). Next, you walk along the riverbank of the Meuse through a small path to the meadow. Before the barbed wire, you turn off and begin a solid climb (good hiking shoes are highly recommended!). After the forest, you descend back to the river with a stunning view of the limestone cliffs across the water. You walk through the meadows, along the bank of the Meuse. At the information board about climbing the rock, you turn right and start a steep climb (better path than the first climb). Once at the top, you have a beautiful view of Château de Freÿr. These lovely panoramic views from the cliffs are also the turnaround point (the view here is nicer than at Point de vue sur rochers de Freÿr). Along the stretch by the N95, there are also some dining options (address: Chaussée des Alpinistes), after which you continue the route and also enjoy a nice view of the Château from the tower. On the way back, you complete the route through the forest, meadows, and the village of Famignoul.

In winter conditions, this walk can be dangerous.
