Haspengouw at its best (St-Truiden - around Waremme - St-Truiden)

This tour with departure and arrival on the outskirts of Sint-Truiden takes you along some of the most beautiful corners of beautiful Haspengouw, the largest fruit-growing region in Belgium.
Between Brustem and Bommershoven, you pedal on the "Romeise Kassei", which was once a Roman Heirbaan, but has been given a bike-friendly road surface. You will pass the idyllic kerje of Helshoven and many impressive castle farms and farms four chances. In this region, you will always come across Gallo-Roman tumuli somewhere.
The tour also crosses the language border. As you approach the language border, strawberry fields and orchards increasingly give way to vast agricultural fields with mostly grain, corn, beets and potatoes.

This rather difficult journey is not flat for a meter, it always goes up and down through the hilly landscape. The most difficult slopes are mainly in the first 15 kilometers, but it continues to climb and descend constantly.
Haspengouw is the most praised during the flowering period (+/- 2nd half of April) but each season, Haspengouw shows you a different fascinating face.

Sint-Truiden is rightly called the capital of Hesbaye, so a visit to the Grote Markt is an ideal end and a tasty local regional beer should not be missed. Beers from 'Brouwerij van Kerkom ' and ' Brouwerij & Distillery van Wilderen' are recommended.
