Le Hérou - Le Cheslé (from Ollomont, Nadrin)

The walk starts at the Sainte-Marguerite chapel. The chapel and the cemetery are located on a rocky outcrop in the heart of the old Ardennes village of Ollomont. The path mostly follows the Escapardenne Eisleck Trail and quickly leads down to the valley, continuing along the Ourthe river to Le Hérou. The entire area has been designated as exceptional heritage of Wallonia. It is a rugged and wild landscape, a zone full of rocks, steep cliffs, and wild growth. The path often ascends steeply and leads back down to the valley via the large rock, before rising again towards the site 'Le Cheslé'. This Celtic fortification, classified as cultural heritage of Wallonia, served as a refuge for local tribes in the 7th, 6th, and 5th centuries BC. On the northern side of the site, you leave the Escapardenne Eisleck Trail to continue walking towards the center of Bérismenil. Following the main road, you then walk back towards Nadrin and return to the starting point in Ollomont. A challenging but beautiful hike, without a doubt!
