Due to the rural and peaceful surroundings on the one hand and the good connections with the major cities on the other hand, Welle has experienced significant population growth in recent decades. In the immediate vicinity of several residential neighborhoods lies the open agricultural field.

Some notable points along the route:

1. The Saint Joseph Church in the Hemelrijk district has a remarkable history of its establishment. In Denderleeuw and Welle, several residential neighborhoods emerged in the 1960s and 1970s to accommodate the increasing number of commuters. It was decided to establish a new parish in the Hemelrijk district under the leadership of pastor Louis Merckx. However, due to a lack of financial resources, it seemed that the new parish would have to make do with the hastily established emergency church. To reduce costs, Pastor Merckx decided, with the help of parishioners, to build a new church himself. In 1976, the church was put into use, two years after the start of construction.

2. Denderleeuw is located in the Flemish clay region. On the edge of the field, there is a large clay extraction area, commonly known as the Vlamoven. Until the 1960s, there was a ring kiln at the site of the pond where the bricks were baked on site. In other locations, the soil was excavated less deeply for the baking of the traditional red field oven bricks.
