For this beautiful varied junction walk we parked the car at Restaurant De Waterhoek in Balen. Right at junction 10, from there we left along the canal to KP 11. Where you start following the beautiful GR561 (Kempen Maaspad). Anyone who knows something about GR paths also knows that one can often encounter narrow, muddy paths. There is no shortage of mud and water. The GR 561 runs through the Griesbroek. The Griesbroek is a nature reserve between the Dessel-Kwaadmechelen Canal and the Straalmolen. Centrally located in the area is the Grote Nete. The Griesbroek is one of the many nature reserves in the Grote Netewoud.

After leaving the Griesbroek one crosses the canal and then walks through forests and fields to Olmen. The center is really left to walk through a number of streets and streets to the 'nature reserve Scheps'. You will pass the beautiful St-Odrada Chapel and then return to the starting point via paved roads.
