Walking in the Raambeek Valley in Keerbergen

The walk in the Raambeekvallei goes through one of the green open spaces of Keerbergen. The valley is a small-scale agricultural area, with forestry, but is fragmented throughout by ribbon development. This ribbon development cuts the valley in the Keerbergen territory into several pieces. A few relatively large areas remained free from construction. They are landscape valuable due to the variation in land use, the small-scale character of the agriculture, and the rows of trees. Discover the Scottish Highlands, the local organic farmer's shop, and the nature reserve Schmeldersveld.

The walk starts on the Rozenweg where there is parking available. To avoid parking problems due to an overflow of cars on the Rozenweg, local residents ask to come there on foot or by bike if possible. You can also connect to the walk from Korte Welvaart, Grensstraat, Schaleken, Schrieksebaan, or Braambosweg/Nieuwstraat.

From the Rozenweg, you walk to the Raambeek and over the small bridge, follow the Raambeek and the unpaved path through the valley.

Just past the nature reserve Schmeldersveld, take the path to the right, back to the Schrieksebaan. Follow the Schrieksebaan to the right, Mosvennedreef, Braambosweg, Nieuwstraat and back to Schrieksebaan.

Cross the Schrieksebaan and through the path, you return to the Raambeekvallei. Keep following the unpaved path. In the private forest (with some artworks here and there), you can walk. These woods have existed since before 1771 (old Ferraris forest). It is a private forest where the owners allow walking on the paths. Respect this, stay on the paths, and keep it tidy.

Walk to the Grensstraat and from there via unpaved paths (see map) back into the Raambeekvallei to eventually end back at the Rozenweg.
