Keerbergen Stuivenberg Asparagus Field walk

The Stuivenberg-Aspergeveld walk goes through the northwest corner of Keerbergen. The narrow strip of open agricultural land along the Raambeek forms the northern boundary of the municipality here and connects to the open cultural landscape in Rijmenam. The development (Vogelzang, Zandjan, Aspergeveld, Stuivenberg) has penetrated deep into the valley area at various locations, sometimes right up to the Raambeek, creating breaks in the open space of the valley. This places a heavy burden on preserving the openness and naturalness of the valley. Maximizing the preservation of the remaining landscape elements in the form of solitary trees and pollarded tree rows and ensuring sufficient (large) open passages (or views) between developments is of great importance. The cessation of traditional agricultural land use puts pressure on landscape management.

The municipal sports hall on Putsebaan is the starting point of the walk. There is parking available for cars. From the sports hall, you walk through the Vogelzang neighborhood to the new Zandjan neighborhood. Here, a few street names were named after former mayors of Keerbergen (Jules Ceulemans, Marcel Schroos).

Via Grooten Ley, you walk to Bakestraat. There, directly across, you take the unpaved footpath 63. This takes you to the edge of the Raambeek valley and along valuable pollarded tree rows to the Stuivenberg. Then, you walk via the Stuivenbergstraat, Veldstraat, Aspergeveld, Lelieweg, again Aspergeveld, Busselweg, Bakestraat, to the Stationsstraat. As the name suggests, there used to be a (steam) tram station here.

From Stationsstraat, you go via Kempenlaan, Processieweg, back to the domain of the sports hall.
